Course Description

This course is intended to develop fundamental skills for law enforcement to safely respond to and identify an environmental crime, initiate the investigative process and coordinate with all necessary allied agencies. Students will learn how to recognize potential environmental crime scenes and how to respond safely. Various environmental crime situations will be discussed and clearly defined in class. Legal concerns and codes will be defined along with recommended reporting procedures. The tactical response will be discussed and allied agency response and resources will be clarified with the most up-to-date information available. The course is presented by experts from various disciplines currently assigned to environmental crimes investigation and prosecution.

Reimbursement Plan IV: There is no tuition for POST reimbursable agencies. While student travel and per diem reimbursement are normally reimbursable via Training Reimbursement Request (TRR) for this course, POST has temporarily suspended tuition and travel reimbursement for all POST Plan IV courses, with the exception of contract classes and those outlined in Attachment A of the POST Bulletin No. 2017-01. This course is not listed as an exempt course.
Non-Reimbursable agencies: Tuition is $190.00. There is no reimbursement for travel and per diem.
