Course Description

This course is designed for crime analysts at all levels – entry, intermediate and advanced who want understand their role within their agencies.  This course will provide the student with the necessary tools to build a solid foundation, an overview day to day tasks, navigating the law enforcement environment, best practices for effective crime and intelligence analysis and essential analytical skills.  The skill sets and knowledge taught in this course will enable the crime analyst to apply basic analytical techniques such as identifying and disseminating crime patterns, trends and series, introduce the new crime analyst to various databases, and new technologies utilized by the crime and intelligence fields.  The student will walk away with the tools necessary to become a successful and vital part of their agency’s tactical, strategic and investigative teams.

Virtual Format: This course is also offered in a live virtual platform. Students enrolling in the virtual platform will experience and practice the same course content as those attending the in-person format, but will be working as a student from their home or office. This version requires students to have and use a laptop/computer with microphone and camera. The platform will not work on phones or tablets. No call-ins allowed. Please note, all times listed related to courses that take place as a virtual format are PST.

Course Fee Information: $622

Effective February 1, 2020 per POST Bulletin No. 2019-40:

POST Reimbursement Plan IV: Tuition for POST reimbursable agencies is $622.00. Travel reimbursement is available via Training Reimbursement Request (TRR).

Non-POST Reimbursable agencies: Tuition is $622. There is no reimbursement for travel and per diem.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations received more than ten (10) business days prior to the start of the class will not be charged. If payment has already been made, it will be refunded. Cancellations received ten (10) or less business days before the start of the class will be charged at full price. This late cancellation charge compensates RTC for the non-refundable costs incurred prior to the start date of the course.

No Shows: A No Show on the day of the class will result in a full charge for the class.
